Intro

Ever felt like all that you do in life is meaningless or futile? Ever felt like you were missing something? The truth is that you’re not alone, and that many people go through similar (and yet unique) struggles. This β€œkit” is meant to help you work through the difficulties and find hope, with others.

The items in this kit are not new, and neither are the ideas that surround them. This kit is simply a digital repackaging of what is tried and true.

First, there is the journal. The kit connects to jrnl.com. The journal is meant to help you sort through thoughts and feelings, acknowledging both the good and the bad.

Second, there is the β€œcontact card.” The contact card has blanks where you can put the names of people you think might be helpful in your journey, and suggests different types of people in case you get stuck.

Last but not least, there is the Bible. The kit connects to Bible.com, which includes numerous language and audio versions. The Bible is meant to encourage you and lead you closer to the Lord, who cares like no one else.

The digital bible, journal, and contact card all have physical counterparts, which come with their own pros and cons but are no less effective.

The Journal

Trying to sort out your thoughts? This is a good place to start.

After you've picked out a digital platform or physical book, you can start to fill pages and pages with your life, things that you are grateful for, or even perplexing difficulties.

Best Practices:
- Open up and explore the deep stuff
- Look for the silver lining
- Express both feelings and thoughts
Notes:
- You might feel temporarily worse after journaling (But it is still healthy)
- Feel free to draw! (But don't skip writing)
- You don't need to be perfect, never missing a day

The Contact Card

Feeling isolated? Just going through life alone? Maybe it's time to pause and look around for people who can help.

The digital contact card allows you to save the names of people you think could help. (These names are stored locally on your computer, and will be erased if you clear "localStorage.") You could also use an index card as a physical reminder.

Once you have some people on your list, find a chance to talk. Maybe even set up a daily or weekly schedule. You don't always need to talk about the same thing. You might even find that you feel better just by being around them.

Keep in mind that you can also talk the Lord. Any time, any place. Find out more in the next section...

The Bible

Looking for true hope? Have you seen God's goodness, and yet still feel like you don't fully understand? The answer is the Lord.

We can (and should) talk to Him in prayer. You can pray any time, any place, and in your own, normal way of saying things. (As a note though, please don't treat God like He is an on-demand circumstance-fixer.)

He has also given us a sort of "living" letter (the Bible). We can see what He has said about Himself, life, and humanity.

The Bible is the most important and widespread book ever written. It has thousands of translations and audio versions, is available online and off.

As you read it (or listen to it), pray to God for guidance. He knows all your flaws and idiosyncrasies and can reveal parts of the Bible that will change your life. This is why I call the Bible a living letter.

As a final note, when you are interpreting the Bible, examine things in context (both textual and historical). Mistakes happen when people take portions of the Bible out of context and make them say things they don't mean.
